Jonathan Shrewsbury


Jonathan was one of the youngest males to ever commence training at the world renowned Guys Hospital School of Physiotherapy and successfully graduated in 1992. He worked in the NHS at Redbridge Trust for two and a half years, completing his Rotations and reaching Senior II status. During this time he worked part time on the PGA European Tour before leaving the NHS in 1995 to take up a position as full time physiotherapist on the European Tour Physiotherapy Unit. Jonathan worked with the world's golfing elite at scheduled European Tour events (1993-2002), The Open Championship (1993-2000) and as European Team Physiotherapist at 4 Ryder Cup competitions (1993, 95, 97, 99). At the end of the 2000 season he left the European Tour to pursue a career in private practice. He joined Bodyfactor Active Rehabilitation in November 2000 as the Senior Clinician, overseeing the day to day clinical aspects of the company at two locations in Chertsey, Surrey and Covent Garden, London.

In 2006 he founded Sports Orthopaedics Spinal Ltd with the aim of changing the way musculoskeletal and sports injury care was delivered in the UK. Jonathan was determined to provide SOS's clients with one of the most well resourced and integrated clinical teams in the country and those who have utilised the SOS services would agree that he has managed to achieve that goal.

During the past eighteen years he has gained additional experience in a wide range of elite sporting environments including: GB Hockey Team at the World Student Games, Sheffield 1991; The GB Fencing Team, World Championships, Lisbon 2002; The Hong Kong 7's Tournament 1995 &1996; The RFU England 7's Team IRB 7's World Cup 1997; The Commonwealth Games England RFU 7's Team, Kuala Lumpur, 1998; London Marathon Physiotherapy Team 1993-1995.

Jonathan has recently accepted an invitation to sit on the European Tour Medical Advisory Commitee looking after the health and wellbeing of Europe's finest golfers.

In a managerial capacity Jonathan acts Care Quality Commission Responsible Individual for two of the Centres that SOS currently operate (notably Weybridge and Sevenoaks Medical Centres) and oversees the activity of 70 Clinicians and 15 Administrative Staff in total between the three sites.
