Fiona graduated as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Queen’s College, Glasgow in 1981. She initially worked at the National Spinal Injuries Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, treating spinal injuries and gaining experience in all major specialities including orthopaedics, medical, surgical and musculoskeletal conditions.
Fiona then moved into the private sector to become a Senior Physiotherapist at Champneys Health Resort, Tring. Here, Fiona developed a keen interest sports injuries and exercise therapy.
In 2005, Fiona became a Senior physiotherapist at Princess Margaret Hospital, Windsor, where she could see a real need for specialist Pilates and core stability training following spinal surgery.
Fiona trained with the ‘Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute’ (APPI) to become a certified Pilates matwork Instructor and fully trained in all Pilates large equipment including the reformer and cadillac.
Fiona now specialises her clinical treatment with APPI Modified Pilates which originates from Traditional Pilates which is based on clinical research making it safe and effective for patients. Fiona has a wide experience in 1:1 Pilates and Pilates classes.
Fiona is also a Presenter for APPI and delivers Pilates training courses to physiotherapists throughout the UK. Fiona also sits on the APPI Educational Board responsible for keeping course content up to date with the latest research.
