Chris graduated from Auckland Institute of Technology in 1995 with a BHSc (Physiotherapy). Chris worked in private practice in his native New Zealand and was the head of physiotherapy for the West Coast Rugby Union, before coming to the UK in 1997. Since this time he has been employed in a variety of NHS posts before joining the team at Sports Orthopaedics Spinal in 2007. Whilst working in the NHS, Chris has gained extensive experience in the teaching of physiotherapy students and qualified members of staff. Prior to his appointment as Lead Physiotherapist in 2008, Chris held one of the highest clinical posts within West Kent PCT.
Chris has a particular clinical interest in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries. He has a strong back ground in Rugby Union and uses his knowledge in this area to develop an individualized approach to a patient’s rehabilitation. Other clinical interests include the treatment and assessment of shoulder complaints, especially those patients with atraumatic instability. In 2005, Chris completed his MSc at UCL in advanced Physiotherapeutic practice. Chris is a member of the Manipulative Association of Charted Physiotherapists (MACP), Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACPSM), and also performs acupuncture treatments.
Chris has studied Okinawan Karate to Black belt level and has competed in various kickboxing tournaments. Having grown up in New Zealand Chris has also been involved in Rugby, kayaking, running, cycling and rock climbing. His present sporting pursuits include fencing and basketball.
