| SOS Centres Win Race to Get Darren Clarke Fit for BMW PGA Championship |
With some of the biggest tournaments of the year ahead, Darren needed to resolve the injury that had already seen him withdraw from The Players Championship in Sawgrass, USA and the Spanish Open.
He contacted Jonathan Shrewsbury, SOS Centres’s Clinical Director, who decided the first port of call should be Mr Nick Morgan, one of SOS Centres’s Lower Limb Orthopaedic specialists. Nick Morgan examined Darren and concluded that an MRI Scan would be of benefit to identify the extent of the problem. Alex White, Weybridge Diagnostic Centre’s Unit Manager conducted the scan which highlighted the position of a tear in the right hamstring tendon group.
The SOS Centres Clinical Team agreed that it was in Darren’s best interests to withdraw from his home tournament, the Irish Open in order to prepare for the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
He commenced intensive physiotherapy on a daily basis, with Jonathan Shrewsbury. Utilising all the SOS Centres analysis and rehabilitation facilities at his disposal including the Kin Com Isokinetic Machine, Jonathan managed to get Darren symptom free within 6 days. Darren was delighted that the problem was finally resolved allowing him to tee it up at the European Tour’s flagship event.
