Nigel Mendoza is a Neurosurgeon and as such deals with conditions that effect the brain, spinal cord and the spine itself. He trained at Charing Cross Medical School and, after basic surgical training, he went on to complete his specialist training in neurosurgery passing the Intercollegiate exam. He was appointed as a consultant at Charing Cross Hospital in 1995 and became chief of service, holding that post for 5 years.
He has wide experience in both cranial and spinal neurosurgery and has developed specialist interests in spinal surgery, the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and surgery on pituitary tumours and the base of the skull.
His leisure time revolves around his children and as well as encouraging his boys on the rugby field he still plays the occasional game himself. He plays piano in the family jazz band and has recently developed an interest in driving classic sports cars which included driving a leg of the London to Sydney Friendship Rally.
