MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging and this type of scan is particularly good at looking at the details of the soft tissues which make up the organs of the body. As the scanner uses radiowaves within a strong magnetic field, as opposed to the ionising radiation of an x-ray or CT scan, to create the pictures, there is no risk involved.

At SOS Centres we have access to the most up to date scanning system in the world which produces incredibly detailed pictures of the body parts and allows for a rapid and very accurate diagnosis of any problems detected.

You may have had an MRI before and felt claustrophobic in it. Our scanner eliminates a lot of these problems because the tube is wider and most patients can go into it feet first.

As with all the imaging techniques we use, the pictures are captured, stored, manipulated and reviewed digitally and your scan will be presented to you on a CD-ROM.
