CT-Scan(Computed Tomography Scanning) PDF Print E-mail

ct.gifThis stands for Computerised Tomography and is a technology which uses X-rays to create images of the body's structures and organs. It is particularly useful when looking at brain, lung and blood vessels.

At SOS Centres we have access to one of the fastest, highest resolution machines in Europe which can produce phenomenally accurate images that can be reconstructed into 3D pictures.

This '64 slice' technology still uses ionising radiation but the dose is dramatically reduced (by nearly 70%) in comparison to older machines and the scan takes only seconds to do.
