How I pin a clavicle
Firstly the fracture is identified and a test reduction carried out.
Then the medial piece is drilled and then tapped to accept the screw-thread of the pin.
The pin is drilled out sideways through the clavicle and out through the skin at the back.
Then it is driled back and across the reduced fracture....
so that the pieces are 'kebbabed' and finally compressed to help the break to heal.
